Owl Graduation Card

Happy Friday Crafters,

Today I would like to share with you a graduation card I made for my bestie at work's grandson who was graduating from Preschool.

His group was the Owl Group so I knew the KaDoodle Bug Designs Cutie KaToodles Graduation Owl would be the perfect image for his graduation card.

For the base of the card I used the 3D Popup Gift Card Holder by Lori Whitlock because she was giving him a gift card and I wanted to make it fun for him.

I used Jaded Blossom Banner Dies to make the banners and cut the letters out to fit on the banners using my Silhouette Cameo.

When you open the card you see the gift card holder pop up.
Wasn't sure where to put the sentiment and since the card was already put together I stamped it on a a square.  I was thinking of putting it on the blue pop up gift card holder so I rounded the corners but I didn't like it there so I  placed it on the top of the inside panel of the card.

Card Recipe:
  • Card Base - 3D Popup Gift Card Holder Card by Lori Whitlock purchased from the Silhouette Design store -- Design #39264
    • Watched her YouTube video to help my put it together.  Click HERE to go to that video.
  • All colored/pattern paper from Die Cuts with a View (DCWV) 8"x8" The Education Stack

  • Sentiment on inside of card from Scrappy Mom Stamps Critter Crazy stamp set.
    • Sorry Scrappy Mom Stamps is no longer in business.  :(

SpongeBob Sign for a Graduation

Happy Friday Crafters,

Today starts the new PDE Linky Party #178 Anything but a Card Challenge (Optional Planner Pages)

NOTE: If stopping by my blog for the Summer Loving Coffee Blog Hop, please click HERE to go directly to that post.

For this challenge I made a SpongeBob sign for my friend who's daughter was graduating from college.  Unfortunately they don't allow signs at the graduation so they used it for a party decoration instead.   I got the SpongeBob file for free from a Facebook group.  I didn't write down which one and I downloaded it over 3 years ago so please accept my apology for not remembering which one or the crafty person who created the cut file.  Especially since I would love to give credit to the person who created it but can't.

I made SpongeBob as large as I could to get it to cut on a 12"x12" paper, then cut out all the pieces and put him together.

Here is a picture of how I laid it out on my Silhouette Design Studio software screen to make sure SpongeBob and the saying my friend wanted on the sign would fit on the poster board before I cut the words out.

Here is a picture of the completed SpongeBob by himself.
I love the way he turned out.

Here is a picture of it all cut out and put together.  The only thing I didn't do was glue down SpongeBob and the letters because they were flying to their daughter's graduation but I laid it all out and took a picture so she would know how to put it tougher when they got to their destination.

I was happy that I was able to make this sign to make her graduation a little extra special and thrilled when her mom let me know that she loved it.

Well that's my project for the PDE Linky Party #178 Anything but a Card Challenge (Optional Planner Pages).   Hope you join us for this challenge by linking your project over on the PDE Linky Party blog by clicking HERE.

Thanks for stopping by.

KaDoodle Bug Designs Graduation Challenge - May 15th thru May 18th, 2015

Happy Friday Crafters

For the Scrappy Moms Stamps May 2015 New Stamp Release click here.

I'm hosting the KaDoodle Bug Design bi-weekly challenge that is starting today over at the KBD Challenge Facebook page.   The challenge for the next two weeks is any graduation project made with KaDoodle Bug Design file.

For my graduation project I made a card for my nephew's fiancĂ© who just graduated from dental school.

I used the PTC Cutie KaToodles -Graduation Owl that is currently free and the Toothy Fairy Set because it had to have some dental elements.

Ready for a bunch of pictures of the final card?   Here you go.   Scroll down to see all the other items I used to make this card.

Had to have the owl carry a toothbrush.

So you can see how I popped up all the layers.

Wish I would've put a shadow behind the tooth's to help them show up more.

Card Recipe:
  • Images are  from KaDoodle Bug Designs PTC Cutie KaToodles -Graduation Owl, that is currently free, and the Toothy Fairy Set
  • Sentiment from Scrappy Moms Stamps Owl Occasions stamp set
  • Grad Tri-Shutter Card from Silhouette Store Design ID #77938
  • Face on tooth is from Peachy Keen Stamps PK112-Cherub Face Assortment
  • Pattern Paper from Prettygrafik's Owl Graduation digi paper.
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog.
