Alligator Birthday Card

Happy Friday Crafters,

Today I'm sharing with you a birthday card I made using the KaDoddle Bug Designs Surfing Alligator.

I first started with making the sky using Time Holtz Distress Oxide ink - Broken China & Faded Jeans.

I used various copic markers to shade the edges of the paper pieces.
See below for the colors used.

Waves and sand were cut using Jaded Blossom Tropical Dies.
I used Nuvo Crystal Drops to accent the waves and white Gelly Roll pen to accent the alligator, surf board, palm tree and coconuts and I used my brush with various brown copic markers to give it more texture.

Sentiments from Jaded Blossom Surfs Up stamp set.

Here's a close up of that cool alligator.

Here's the sentiment I used on the inside of the card.

Card Recipe:

  • Sentiments from Jaded Blossom Surf's Up

  • Copic Markers:
    • YG17, YG25, YR04, Y15, G07, RV11, E15, E27
  • Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Broken China & Faded Jeans
  • Nuvo Crystal Drops - Gloss White
  • White Jelly Roll Pen.

Turtle Surfer Beach Card

Happy Hump Day Crafters,

Today I'm excited to be a guest designer for Sunny Day Crafting.

Their new challenge for the week is #43 B is for Beach.

For this challenge I made a card using KaDoodle Bug Designs

I needed to make this card quickly so I used the jpg and printed it out on my printer and cut out with my Silhouette Cameo.   I needed more sand so I used the svg file sand, filled it with  color to match the color on the sand at the bottom of the turtles jpg.   It was too light for me and didn't have enough texture so I put Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Vintage Photo ink on it, sprayed it with water and used a paper towel to blend it and give it texture.
I'm learning to use the Tim Holtz Distress Oxide inks so I'm trying to use them in my projects.

Here's a picture of what it looked like after I added the ink and before I sprayed it with water.

Here's a picture of it when I sprinkled it with water and before I blended and dabbed with a paper towel.

I also used Tim Holtz Distress Oxide to create the background.  Used the Fossilized Amber, Fired Brick & Worn Lipstick.  Not the best background but I'm still learning.   For a quick card I think it turned out pretty nice.

Card Recipe:
  • KaDoodle Bug Designs Cutie KaToodles Beachy Turtles.
  • Tim Holtz Distress Oxide Inks
    • Vintage Photo
    • Fossilized Amber
    • Fired Brick
    • Worn Lipstick
  • Wave die from Jaded Blossom Tropical Dies
  • Sentiments from Jaded Blossom Surfs Up stamp set
  • Gelly Roll pens - White, Blue, Metallic Gold, Metallic Green

Beach Tiger Birthday Card

Happy Friday Crafters,

Today is a bittersweet day.
The bitter part is that today is my last day as a PDE Linky Party Design Team.  The sweet part is that I get to share with you a cool summer themed card I made for the last challenge in June which is the #179 Summer Fun (Optional Fun Fold Card) Challenge and that I will join them in their challenges, which will probably be the cards and anything goes challenges because you know how hard it is for me to make tags and non-card projects.  :)

For my card I started off a card base from SVG Cutting Files called Fancy Card Base Chunky and I used the Landscape one.  The card then was adorned with KaDoodle Bug Designs Sunning Tiger file, waves from a file I bought from the Silhouette Design Store, sand made with Jaded Blossom dies and a sentiment from Jaded Blossom.

Oh how I wish I was where this cool tiger is at.  Sitting in a beach chair on a nice sandy beach with my sunglasses on, listening to the waves crashing and not a care in the world.

I also used some Jaded Blossom stamps for the inside of this card as well.

Thanks for stopping by.

Can't wait to see what summer themed project you create and share with us over at the PDE Linky Party blog.

Reproduction of my KaDoodle Bug Designs Cutie KaToodles - Building Sandcastle Bears Beach Themed Card

Hello Crafters,

A few years ago I made a beach themed step card using KaDoodle Bug Designs Cutie KaToodles - Building Sandcastle Bears and it's on my list of all time favorite cards.    Well a crafty friend reached out to me and asked me to reproduce it for her and in return she would make something for me.   I usually don't like to do this because this card took me several hours to make and my schedule it tight with trying to keep up with making birthday cards for my family and friends, but I was honored that she loved it so much and wanted one I couldn't say no.

Now as you know with homemade cards, no two are exactly alike and since I created the original two years ago I had to remember what I used and what I did to create it.    It's similar to the original but there are noticeable differences and there are things on the reproduction that I like better than the original.

The one on the left with the "Hello Summer" sentiment is the original... the one on the right with "Put your Toes in the Sand" sentiment is the reproduced.

One of the major differences you might not notice is the eyelashes.

    • Original Card - drawn with a fine point black pen
    • Reproduced Card - used false eyelashes from the Dollar Tree

Here are some pictures of the reproduced card.

This was a labor of love and I'm so happy my crafty friend love it.

Scrappy Moms Stamps Terrific Tuesday Challenge - Summer Fun

Happy Tuesday Crafters,

Who doesn't love summer?
I just wish I was a kid again so I could have summer vacation.
So I'm supper excited that the new Scrappy Moms Terrific Tuesday Challenge that starts today is a "Summer Fun" theme.

Photobucket

When I think of summer I think of sand, surf and sand castles so I made a fun beach card using the "hello Summer" sentiment from the Scrappy Moms "Walking on Sunshine" stamp set.
