Candle Birthday Card with Button Accents

Happy Tuesday Crafters,

I'm so happy to be a Guest Designer for Die Cuttin' Diva's today.

This week's challenge is to make anything with buttons.

I don't know about you, but I have a bunch of buttons in my craft stash and I rarely think to use them on my cards.  So this Die Cuttin' Diva's Challenge was perfect for me to pull out my buttons and see how I could incorporate them into my card.

Sometimes when I'm trying to figure out what I want to do for a card I go to the Mojo Monday website to check out their card sketches.   They have a lot of awesome past sketches and for my card I chose the Sketch from the Mojo Monday, July 9, 2012.     Now that I have the card sketch picked out I needed to figure out what image I wanted to use on it, so I searched my SVG data base and saw these cute little candles in the KaDoodle Bug Designs Cutie KaToodles - Make A Wish file.

As I was looking at the sketch, I thought that it would be cool to use buttons for the scallop/circles under the thin strip and use a ribbon instead of paper for the thin strip.

I used green twine for the thread in the purple buttons.   To finish off the button theme of this card I used some mini buttons at the bottom to follow the sketch and and to finish off the tag with the sentiment.

Celebrate Moose Birthday Card.

Happy Friday Crafters,

Sharing with you cards I made with the KaDoodle Bug Designs Exclusive Celebrate Moose that is only available if you join the KaDoodle Bug Designs Fan Giveaways, Freebies and More Facebook Page.

First off I want to show you how I do my eyes for the KBD files.   I had a crafty friend that asked me now I created them so I decided to take step by step pictures.

Before I remove the paper from my cutting mat I select three colored pencils and the white colored pencil.

I take one pencil and write an X on each cut out eye.

Take the next color and make an X in the opposite direction.

Take the third color and write an X in-between the other X's

Take the white color and write an X the opposite of the their color.

Select one of the colored pencils and edge the circle with it.

Next I take a blender pen and blend the colors together.

This is what it looks like when they're all done before you remove the paper from the mat.
Make sure when your blending more than one set of eyes to clear your blender pen.

Here's what they look like after I removed the paper from the mat.

I used a small pom pom and my alligator clip to shade around the moose antlers, tummy and nose using Stampin' Up Soft Suede ink.

Now onto my cards.

I used the same image with different backgrounds.

Here's a close up of this adorable moose.
