Reproduction of my KaDoodle Bug Designs Cutie KaToodles - Building Sandcastle Bears Beach Themed Card

Hello Crafters,

A few years ago I made a beach themed step card using KaDoodle Bug Designs Cutie KaToodles - Building Sandcastle Bears and it's on my list of all time favorite cards.    Well a crafty friend reached out to me and asked me to reproduce it for her and in return she would make something for me.   I usually don't like to do this because this card took me several hours to make and my schedule it tight with trying to keep up with making birthday cards for my family and friends, but I was honored that she loved it so much and wanted one I couldn't say no.

Now as you know with homemade cards, no two are exactly alike and since I created the original two years ago I had to remember what I used and what I did to create it.    It's similar to the original but there are noticeable differences and there are things on the reproduction that I like better than the original.

The one on the left with the "Hello Summer" sentiment is the original... the one on the right with "Put your Toes in the Sand" sentiment is the reproduced.

One of the major differences you might not notice is the eyelashes.

    • Original Card - drawn with a fine point black pen
    • Reproduced Card - used false eyelashes from the Dollar Tree

Here are some pictures of the reproduced card.

Pug Birthday Card

Happy Monday Crafters,

Today is my goddaughter-in-law's birthday.   She loves pugs so when Newton's Nook Designs came out with a pug stamp and die set I had to buy them so I could make a birthday card with a pug on it for her.  This is her first birthday card from me and I was so happy she loved it.

I'm not very good at coloring but I think this little pug turned out pretty good.

Card Recipe:

  • Hot Pink twine from my stash

I hope my Pug birthday card has given you some ideas and inspiration.

Light the Candles Birthday Card

Happy Friday Crafters,

Today starts the PDE Linky Party #175 Anything Goes or Optional Theme "Color It".

For this challenge I'm sharing a birthday card I made the Art Impressions Fire Out Stamp Set.   I have to tell you that I get a good laugh at the Art Impressions stamps because they have some of the funniest characters.   Even though I'm not the best at coloring these stamp sets I'm still going to use them and try my best to make them look half way decent.

I fell in love with this lady holding a fire extinguisher and had to buy the set.   I stamped her on white paper, colored her with various markers and then fussy cut her out.    I wanted her pointing at a cake filled with candles and found this picture of a lady holding a cake on fire that I thought would pair perfectly with her.   Used my Silhouette to print and cut it out using the nesting label - vertical cut file and to cut out red shadow for it.   I used the the same nesting label - vertical cut file to cut a white and blue mat to put behind the lady holding the fire extinguisher.   Stamped the blue mat with sentiments from Scrappy Moms Stamps Hooray for Birthdays.

Card Recipe:
  • Art Impressions 4371 Fire Out Stamp set
    • Colored with various markers.
    • "Okay! Light the Candles!" was printed and cut out using my Silhouette.
  • Mats are from Silhouette Store - Nesting Label-Vertical Design #171517
  • Scrappy Moms Stamps Hooray for Birthdays Stamp set
  • Lady holding cake image from internet
  • Rik Rak Brads from my craft stash

50th Birthday Greeting Box

Happy Friday Crafters,

The new PDE Link Party #174 Anything but a card (optional Treat Container) challenge starts today.

For this challenge I made a box into a birthday greeting for my best friend's 50th birthday.

She love the beach/ocean so I used sea shell paper to decorate the outside of the box and pulled the theme inside with more of the same paper and a ring of sea creatures on the cake layers.

See below for recipe.

Here is the box closed.
I kept it simple and just put Happy 50th Birthday on the top.

This is the box opened looking from the top.
I've been wanting to roll some paper to make it look like toilet paper and put "Holy Crap! You're Old!" on a birthday card for awhile now so I thought it would be funny to use that idea and put in on one of the inside flaps of the box so when she opened it this would jump out at her.  LOL
On the opposite side I took a 50th birthday quote from the internet and typed it in my Silhouette software and sized it to the square I was wanted and used the print and cut feature.

Here's a side view of the three layer paper cake with tea light.

Close up of the cake looking at it from the top down.

Showing me putting together one of the layers of the cake.
I used digital paper to get this pattern.  Put glue on all the tabs and slowly attached them to the circle.

Here's a close up of the paper toilet paper.   I sized this in my Silhouette software and added score lines at one end to give it the look where you tear the TP.

Recipe:
  • 3D Three Tier Birthday Cake Tealight Box - Silhouette Design ID#68054
  • 3D Three Tier Birthday Cake Cake Tealight - Silhouette Design ID#68051
    • Used Miss Kate Cuttables Bubbles digital paper to fill in the pieces of the cake except the scallop edges.
    • Scallop edges were filled in with the option to select a color from the Bubbles digital paper to fill in the scallop edges.
    • Click Here for instructions on how to put together the layered cake.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy Mother's Day Crafters,

Sharing a Mother's Day card I made for my Mother-In-Law.

FYI...Does not fit in an A2 envelope.

I wanted it bright and cheery so I chose this warm yellow and plum.
Here is it closed.

Here it's open but on it's back.

Here it is standing up.   I love how it turned out.

Found this subway are on the internet so I copied it into my Silhouette design studio software and placed it on the back piece after I flipped it horizontally and then did a print and cut.   Glued it to the yellow piece before gluing it into the basket.

Card Recipe:

  • Card from the Silhouette Store -- Box Card Mother's Day Violets Design #194401
  • Paper from my stash
  • Base inked with Stampin' Up Expresso ink
  • Leaves accented with Wink of Stella glitter pen
  • Yellow portion of flowers accented with purple Wink of Stella brush pen
  • Flower centers are sticky dots I bought awhile ago at the dollar store.

Card for Administrative Professional Day 2017

Happy Friday

Last Wednesday, April 26th was Administrative Professional Day and I made these cards for the two ladies who are the adminstrative support for my work's Sales Department.

I'm sharing it with you today for the PDE Linky Party #171 Anything Goes Challenge

I used the Shoppies Sundae image from Treasure Box Designs for the main focus of my card which makes sense when you open the card and see "Here's the Scoop, we Appreciate all you do!" and the Cold Stone gift card the manager of the department purchased to give them.    Card recipe is below.

 Card Recipe:

  • Treasure Box Design Shoppies Sundae
  • Paper used for the Treasure Box Designs Shoppies Sundae:

    • Core'dinations Foundations:
      • Robin (blue) Smooth Texture
      • Hawaiian Orchid (Pink) Canvas Texture
      • Mocca Divine (Brown) Smooth Texture
  • Paper behind Shoppies Sundae is from the Stamps of Life Awesome Collection 6"x6" paper pad
  • Stampin' Up Petite Rose and Tempting Turquoise ink pads for accents
  • Eyelashes from the Dollar Store cut into thirds.
  • Chocolate ice cream was embossed with Sparkle N Sprinkle Brown Fizz
  • Chocolate ice cream accented with Nuvo Crystal Drops that can be purchased at Sparkle N Sprinkle's website
