KaDoodle Bug Designs May 1st thru May 14h Mother's Day Challenge

Hello Crafters

Today starts the new challenge over at the KBD Challenges Facebook page.
This challenge is any Mother's day project using a KaDoodle Bug Designs file.

I love paper piecing but with working full time I sometimes don't have time to cut and put them all together which is why I love it when KaDoodle Bug Designs files have jpgs as part of their file options.

I'm in love with the new adorable KBD KaTootles files.
For my project I used the beautiful Cutie KaToodles - Unicorn because my MIL loves them and thought it would make a cute Mother's Day card for her.

I pulled the KaTootle Unicorn jpg into my Silhouette Studio Designer Software, traced it, cropped it to remove the white area around it, and then placed it on a scallop circle that I filled in with lavender.   Once I got that done, I printed it and then put it through my Silhouette Cameo to cut it out.

I have been seeing a lot of crafters make shaker cards and love how they look and decided to try and make one.  I shouldn't have used a scallop circle for my first shaker project but I like the way it turned out.  I need to watch some more youtube videos before I make my next one.

Below are pictures of the final project.

I came up with this saying for the other side of the flip it card because my MIL is magical to us.

Not a very good picture but alas I'm not a photographer. :)

Card Recipe:

  • Image is from KaDoodle Bug Designs Cutie KaToodles - Unicorn file
  • Sentiment from Craftin Dessert Divas Happy Celebrations stamp set
  • 3D Flip Swing Card Scalloped from the Silhouette Store Design #28759
  • Wink of Stella pen to add sparkle to the unicorn.  (Hard to see it on the picture)
  • Also entered this in the DoubleClick Skittles Challenge: For Mom or a Girl!
Thanks so much for stopping by my blog.
I hope you enjoyed my Mother's Day card

Sympathy Cards

Hello Crafters,

Today I'm sharing some cards that are my least favorite to make as I'm sure it is with you.  I had a co-worker who's mother-in-law that passed away Monday and last night I got a call from my dad that my stepmom's second son passed away suddenly.  This news broke my heart for her because she lost a son unexpectedly four months ago and I can on imagine the pain and the void she is feeling.

I always struggle when it comes to creating sympathy cards so I went to Pinterest to get inspiration.  So these cards are not my own ideas and I am so appreciative of getting inspiration and ideas from other crafters.

This first card is for my co-worker.  I used one of the embossing folders from Cuttlebug Paper Lace II set and the Darice embossing frames to keep it from embossing the oval portion.   I used my markers to color the stems and flowers on a Hero Art stamp and stamped it in the oval.   The sentiment is from Scrappy Moms Stamps "From the Inside Out" stamp set.   Added a bow and a few gems.

The second card I made for my stepmom.   I found the saying on Pinterest and retyped it and put it front of the card.  Once again I used the "With Sympathy" stamp from the Scrappy Moms Stamps "From the Inside Out" stamp set.  The fern stamp on the mat is from my stash, not sure where I got it from.

Thanks for stopping by.
